Music Science

Music Science is an inter-faculty research team at UNSW that combines the Empirical Musicology Group and the Music Acoustics Lab.

Our research interests include

  • The acoustics of musical instruments, the voice and the ear
  • The player-instrument interaction in performance
  • The psychology of the perception and performance of music
  • Statistical modelling of aesthetic response.

We are currently expanding the interfaculty collaboration. It is possible for graduate students in arts or science to undertake interdisciplinary projects with research in both faculties.
